The highly-anticipated matchup between Malaysia’s Keanu Subba and Singapore’s Christian Lee has had to be put on hold.
Originally scheduled for ONE: UNION OF WARRIORS in Yangon, Myanmar, on 18 March, the bout was welcomed by fight fans as one between two of ONE’s highest-rated young prospects in the featherweight division.
Subba was training hard for the fight before a sparring accident left him with a dislocated right elbow that will have him out of commission for an extended period of time.
“It’s devastating,” said Subba. “I invested a lot of money and time in this camp. I felt sharp. Everything was going so well until this happened. I’m sorry to all my family, friends and fans for not being able to fight on March 18th. I’ll come back from this setback stronger than ever,” Subba added.
ONE Championship is currently searching for Subba’s replacement.
When asked, Lee replied: “I found out this morning. I was looking forward to fighting him, but I’m not upset at all. I know that injuries are a part of the game and I wish him all the best in his recovery. I know that it’s only going to be a matter of time before we meet up again.”
