Vadim Finkelchtein: “M-1 Arena will become a central place of interest in St. Petersburg”

M-1 Global President Vadim Finkelchtein talks about M-1 Arena in St. Petersburg and “Road to M-1″ events for young fighters

The arena will be able to take 3000 people and it will hold not only MMA events, but also wrestling and any other sports competition.  The technologies of the M-1 Arena will provide opportunity for the best possible video broadcasts – we will have all the cameras, big screens and all the cables inside the building. Our plan it to build it up for 12-18 months.

The location is nearby the Gazprom Tower, not far from the “Park of 300 Years” Anniversary of St. Petersburg foundation.

The total square of the M-1 Arena is 12-13 000 sq. meters. Part of the space we want to give to fitness-gyms, sport wear and gear malls and cafes. There also will be different martial arts gyms. We will have all the necessary conditions for martial artists, including floor canvas and everything else.

We are lucky there will be 2 new subway stations opened soon, one of them will be located 300 meters from Arena. I’m sure this place will become of the most popular locations in St. Petersburg. Not far from here they are building up a Gazprom Tower that will become the highest building in Europe. It will become a huge complex with business-centers and restaurants. From the other side there’s “Zenit-arena” located. All of this should be opened and launched by 2018 year – therefore M-1 Arena will become in the center of these events.

I’d like to hold a new type of MMA-tournaments there: to have an elimination-tournament in single weight class each week. The winner of this event gets his contract with M-1 and will show themselves at M-1 Challenge event.

Now we hold similar type of events called “Road to M-1”. We did this already in Italy and in China. We have a lot of request from fighters who want to fight at M-1 Global, but we can’t accept everyone. For the young and prospective guys we make a “Road to M-1” event where the winner gets a contract with M-1 Global. All this events will be streamed at M1Global.TV
