M-1 ex-champion commented his upcoming battle against Bellator’s ex-king in Alexander Shlemenko.
“This offer to take on Shlemenko came rather unexpected. There was
some rumor circulating but nothing serious at that time. But when I
got that offer on my table I didn’t hesitate one bit. Alexander is one
of the most popular and strongest middleweights in the world today. If
you call me and ask to fight someone like that I’ll never turn it
down. I’m really interested because this clash offers me an
opportunity of my own professional evolution. To become the best you
need to continually fight (and defeat) the best. I’m thankful for this
As his fights showed he’s quite dangerous with his hands, feet and
even knees. He‘s an example of a really versatile striker. He‘s more
vulnerable on the ground. However it doesn’t mean by default that I’ll
rush him to the ground instantly. I believe I can handle him in the
stand up. The plan will be no different than in any other of my
fights. While in the fight I’ll find a hole in his defense and
capitalize on it.
I want to believe he’ll be well-prepared come February 19. I hope we
both being from Siberia will be able to bring firework to the rage.
